Fairtrade Week Bake Off
On Tuesday this week, the Fairtrade event was a Student Bake Off, where students from Year 7 right up to Year 12 made cakes inspired by Fairtrade and using as many Fairtrade ingredients as possible.
The competition was judged by Catherine Scott who owns Celebration Cakes bakery. The winner was Mahi from Year 8, who used digestive crumbs dyed with food colouring to create the Fairtrade logo, which Mrs. Scott said was not only visually creative but texturally too. The runner up was Daisy from Year 10, whose cake was inspired by women breaking out of the chains placed on them, as Fairtrade's theme this year is Women Empowerment.
