Upcycling Competition

The idea for an upcycling competition came from one of the parents who help in the Second Hand Uniform shop.  We wanted to raise the profile of the Second Hand Uniform shop, whilst making use of uniform items that for one reason or another weren’t suitable to sell in the shop.

The Eco Council was keen to get involved in the project as finding new uses for unwanted clothes is an eco-friendly way to avoid textiles ending up in landfill.  As a bonus we got to see the creative talent of the Kendrick students.  Mrs MacWaters was tasked with deciding the prize winners out of the varied entries.

The prizes were awarded to:

1st place Felicity for the wonderful jacket

2nd place Atlas for the cuddly dinosaur

Shared 3rd place to Mahi for her skirt and Hana for her cushion

We hope the students enjoyed making their creations as much as we enjoyed admiring the new uses they found for the uniform items.
