Music Outreach at The Avenue School

Last week, Mrs Cooper and Mrs Nicholson took twelve very talented Kendrick students from Years 10, 11 and 12 to visit The Avenue School in Reading to perform some music and songs for the students there as part of Kendrick’s outreach work.  It was a lovely sunny day and our students were able to perform outside as part of a summer festival at The Avenue which the children looked to be thoroughly enjoying.

They were treated to some beautifully performed music from our students covering a range of different styles, including Disney, film music and jazz.   Instruments played included the piano, clarinet, violin, guitar and drums, accompanying some vocal pieces.  Songs performed included “How Far I'll Go” from Moana, “Someday” from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and “Riptide” by Vance Joy.

Some of The Avenue School students clapped along to the tunes they recognised, and one particularly enthusiastic student came up on stage to join in the singing, to the delight of everyone.

A lovely afternoon was had by all and thank you to our wonderful students for supporting this important outreach work.
