Refuge Poetry Competition
Following on from National Poetry Day, students were invited to submit poems based on this year’s theme of ‘refuge’. We were highly impressed with the quality of the poems we received interpreting this theme in a wide variety of ways – many students wrote with great empathy and sensitivity about the plight of refugees around the world, but other poems reflected on how refuge can be found in other people, places and books.
After much deliberation, we were delighted to announce the results as follows:
Highly commended: Ananya (Year 7), Darya (Year 7), Sana (Year 7) and Navdha (Year 9)
Runners-up: Veda (Year 7) and Roberta (Year 8)
Winners: Eleanor (Year 8) and Evie (Year 10)
You can read Evie and Eleanor’s winning poems below. Many thanks to all the students who took part in this competition!
