Ashurst Law Trip: '100 Years of Women in Law'
Alumna, Eleanor Reeves, invited 5 of our would-be lawyers to attend a prestigious event to commemorate ‘100 years of Women in Law’. At Kendrick School we are very keen to inform our students of opportunities like this as part of our active CEIAG (careers) programme. The high-profile evening was hosted by the central London Ashurst Law firm, where Eleanor works, on Thursday 14th November 2019.
Farah, one of our Year 13 students that attended wrote the following:
‘To say the event at Ashurst was enriching would be an understatement. We were able to see the incredible things women had achieved in Law and particularly at the Ashurst firm which was so inspiring, given the demoralising horror stories we often hear about the treatment of women in any field of work, not just the legal profession. This event exhibited the rapid progress happening in the work place and showed us that with hard work, determination and a real zeal for Law, you are able to achieve anything, regardless of your gender and ethnic background–which was a reassuring message.’
As a school we would love to hear from our alumni, so if you are reading this and are in a position to support our talented and ambitious students with work experience placements, sponsorship and by attending careers events, please do make contact with us here at Kendrick School: admin@kendrick.reading.sch.uk
Thank you.
