Children's Mental Health Week

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week and the theme this year is Growing Together.

Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow. Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’.

Every day this week the Student Welfare Team sent out information to students, on mental health and wellbeing from Mind and other support groups aimed at young people aged 11-18.

The Student Welfare Team work closely with Heads of Key Stages and teachers, and help to support students in school with their mental health. Based in the General Office (Mrs Hackett, Mrs Shaw and Ms Lawlor) and the Sixth Form Office (Ms Edwards). The Student Welfare Team can be contacted either in person via the General Office / Sixth form office or via email on Studentwelfare@kendrick.reading.sch.uk

We also have use of a quiet, safe space called The Base, in Sidmouth basement.  The Base is a safe space for students to go if they would like to be somewhere quiet during break or lunchtimes, especially if they find busy, noisy places difficult.
