Results and Destinations

2024

At Kendrick in 2024 at both A level and GCSE the proportion of the highest grades is very high, and we are incredibly pleased with the results of our students.

For the A level students, the success rate of university placements is extremely high. Out of 153 students 135 gained their firm or insurance choice university place. The most popular universities and courses that students have gone on to can be found in Destinations section.

There is now a return to fully usual conditions and grading for public examinations following the COVID pandemic. This is the first year in which value added data will be calculated nationally for both the GCSE and A level cohorts.

Headline figures

  • At A Level 79% of grades awarded were at  grade A*, A or B
  • At GCSE  90% of grades awarded were at grade 9,8 or 7

Many thanks to our teachers and staff, trustees and parents whose support and encouragement has contributed to the results achieved this year.

2022

We are delighted with the A Level and GCSE results achieved this summer at Kendrick School. We are very pleased and proud of our students and congratulate them on their incredible achievements, and we celebrate their success.

We acknowledge and appreciate the hard work that all the students have done in their studies over the last two years in difficult and uncertain circumstances. Throughout this time, our students have demonstrated resilience, determination and focus, working closely and collaboratively with their teachers and staff.

Many thanks to our teachers and staff, governors and parents whose support and encouragement has contributed to the results achieved this year.

Our very best wishes to our Year 13 students who are planning and preparing for the next stage in their lives. Also, to the few Year 11 students who are moving to other institutions for their A Level studies. We thank them for everything they have done for Kendrick and wish them well for the future.

Of our A level students, the success rate of university placements is extremely high. Out of 157 students (including 26 'Year 14' students) 128 students gained their first choice university place and 11 gained their insurance place. The universities and courses that students have gone on to can be found in Destinations 2022 section of the website.

This was another unusual year for public examinations. Following two years of teacher and centre assessed grades it was a welcome return to written national examinations. It is not a normal year as adjustments were made to the format of the exams in some subjects and the grade boundaries were set to give a national distribution of grades that lie between the 2019 and 2021 distributions. This approach has been seen as reasonable across the education sector. It does mean another year in which analysis of results and value added calculations are very difficult as there are no other years with the same standard of grade boundaries to make comparisons with.

At Kendrick at both A level and GCSE the proportion of the highest grades is very high, and we are extremely pleased with the results of our students.

Headline figures

  • At A Level 75% of grades awarded were at  A* or A
  • At GCSE 83% of grades awarded were at 9 or 8

We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students with staff, parents and students at our A Level and GCSE Presentation of Certificate events later in the term.

Destinations 2022

2021

This year we have another two academically gifted, curious and hard-working cohorts of students receiving GCSE and A Level grades. We are so proud of them and all that they achieved with their studies and contributed to the life of the school through a very challenging 18 months. We also thank all the staff for their expertise and knowledge and dedication to producing the best education possible for all our students through both live and remote teaching and for handling the grading process this year so carefully, rigorously and professionally.

This year schools submitted teacher assessed grades in place of summer examinations. Kendrick School followed its Centre Policy to the letter, including subjecting all grades to an internal quality assurance process before they were submitted. The examination boards took a sample of grades and their associated evidence for their external quality assurance process. All our grades were accepted without changes by the examination boards and issued on results days in the summer.

The key headlines are below and the destinations of Year 13 students can be found HERE

  • At A Level 92% of grades awarded were at A* to B.
  • At GCSE 85% grades awarded were at grades 8 & 9.

We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students with staff, parents and students at our A Level and GCSE Presentation of Certificate events later in the term.

2020

  • At A Level 32% of grades awarded were at A* and 90% A* to B.
  • 54% of GCSE grades were awarded at grade 9 and 81% at grades 8&9.

The story of how these students were denied by COVID 19 the opportunity of sitting live examinations and turning instead to centre assessment grades and exam board standardisation is well documented and in the end we were all pleased that the final grades have been formed as the better of these two grades.

There are rightly no national performance tables or value added calculations this year.

2019

This has been a fantastically successful year for examination results and we congratulate all the students on their hard work and successes and thank the staff for their expertise and dedication to the students’ education.

The school’s Progress 8 score in 2019 is +1.28 which places Kendrick 9th on the ranked list of all 6502 schools and colleges in England.

Link to school and college performance tables here.

In 2019 at GCSE the highest grade of NINE was awarded to 53% of examinations taken and 92% of grades were NINE, EIGHT or SEVEN. The Attainment 8 score per pupil is 84.5. 100% of pupils achieved grade 6 and above in English and Mathematics. 95% of the cohort entered and achieved the English Baccalaureate.

The percentage of students staying in education or employment after Key Stage 4 for at least two terms is 97 % (data published in October 2019, for pupils who completed key stage 4 in 2017, which is the most recent data available).

At A Level our students excelled themselves with 81% of grades being A*, A or B and 20% were the highest grade of A*.  The vast majority of these students gained their place at one of their top choice universities.

More details are available on Kendrick School’s performance table page here.
