Kendrick Recommended Reading Lists

The English department and the Library have been busy selecting our top reading recommendations for each age group in school, based on some of our own favourite books and those which our students love.

We hope that these lists will help students to discover challenging, exciting and inspiring new books from different genres and from all over the world which explore all sorts of important themes and ideas. All these books will be available for students to borrow from the Library (and many are already proving very popular!)

Kendrick Recommended Reading List 11 - 18

At the end of this academic year, we will be asking students how many books from their age group they have managed to read and which are their favourites. We hope that these lists will also help parents to continue encouraging our students to read widely and ambitiously!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I Join?

All students are registered onto the library computer when they join Kendrick School.

What can I borrow?

You can borrow up to 8 items (4 Fiction and 4 Non-Fiction) at any one time for a loan period of three weeks.

How do I take a book out?

When you have chosen your book, take it to the issue desk to have it entered under your name and stamped with the return date.

How do I return them?

Bring them back to the issue desk so that the items can be returned on the computer system. Never put them directly back on the shelves.

What happens if my book is late?

Please try to return anything you borrow on time – there may be someone else waiting to borrow it. If there is no reservation request on it, you can ask the librarian to renew it.

Overdue reminders are sent out via form registers and you will be unable to borrow anything else until the overdue items are returned.

How do I find the resources I need?

The fiction books are arranged in alphabetical order of the author’s surname.

The non-fiction books are arranged in Dewey classification order.

The library catalogue is accessible from any computer in the school and you can search for items by author, title, subject or keyword.

If you need any help, just ask the librarian.
